Waterford Tour organized by Doug Morrison, ending up at the Angry Penguin Pub

Heave Away and Set Sail for the Waterford Waterfront Tour next Wednesday, May 17th!  Once again we will make port on beautiful Waterford Harbor, where we will dance the sun down in front of the Visitor Center for the entertainment of fancy yacht owners as they sip their Tanqerays - care to lead a song there Bill?  Please be ready to dance by the water at 6:30 if you can, after dancing several sets we’ll finish and head up to the Angry Penguin at 8:15 to enjoy their fine grub and grog.

The Waterfront Visitor Center is just two blocks south of Broad Street (Waterford's main drag) and the Angry Penguin on Second Street, the first cross street east of the Penguin.  Second St. is the street leading to the bridge to Peebles Island.  There is limited parking at the visitor center on the right just before the bridge.  You can also go slight left onto Second Street at the base of the bridge and around the corner to park at the boat launch.  A third option is to park near the Angry Penguin on Broad Street or in the municipal lot off Tugboat Alley (the street behind the Penguin), just south of Broad Street and catty corner to the Penguin, and walk down from there.

    7:00 pmRotterdam

We'll meet at Poppy's Ice Cream at 7 Old Mariaville Rd in Rotterdam.

We'll dance until we're warm enough for ice cream, cool down with delicious frozen treats, and then maybe dance a bit more. It looks like Poppy's has your generic burger/hot dog grilled food options if people want to eat something besides ice cream.
The National Weather Service claims we should expect a 30% chance of rain, with a temperature in the high 60s by the evening. Maybe not the best weather for ice cream consumption, but pleasant enough for dancing.
    See you then!

    6:45 pm

    Tourmaster: Jeff Ostertag
Please gather in Coxsackie at the State Boat Launch Park at 6:45 so that we can dance at 7:00. For this tour, we will be in full kit.

At 7:45, proceed to Riverfront Park in Athens and dance at 8:00. Get together afterwards at the Crossroads Brewing Company at 21 Second Ave, Athens.

    To Coxsackie State Boat Launch
From the New York State Thruway, get off at Exit 21B.
Turn left onto Rte 9W and go 2.2 miles to Route 385, also known as Mansion St. (this is at a traffic light.)
Turn left onto Rte 385 and go 1.7 miles to the intersection of 385, Mansion St. and Lafayette Ave.
Go straight through this intersection and stay on Mansion St. (Do not turn right onto Rte 385 because 385 leaves Mansion St. at this point.) Stay on Mansion St for 0.4 mile, go down the hill to Reed St.
Turn left onto Reed St and go 400 feet to its end.
Turn left onto South River St and go 300 feet to the Coxsackie State Boat Launch park on your right. This is the same park we danced in last year.

From the Coxsackie Boat Launch to Athens Riverfront Park
Follow Betke Blvd (a oneway street) to its end at Mansion St.
Turn left and go 0.8 mile. (Mansion St becomes Ely St and goes up the hill and ends at Rte 385.)
Turn left onto Rte 385 and go 6.6 miles to Second St in the Village of Athens.
Turn left onto Second St and go 250 feet to its end at River St and Riverfront Park.

From Riverfront Park to Crossroads Brewing Company
From Riverfront Park, go back up Second St. 600' (crossing over Rte 385) and continue to the Cross Roads Brew Pub on your left at 21 Second St. This is a walkable distance.
For those of you who like to look things up on Google:
"Coxsackie Boat Launch" will bring you to the first dance location.
"2 South Water Street, Athens, NY" will bring you to the second dance location.
"21 Second St, Athens, NY" will bring you to the location and a picture of the Crossroads Brewing Company. The brewpub building is a 3 story red brick building with an interesting 4 story tower on its northeast corner.
And if you like geodetic coordinates:
Coxsackie Boat Launch is 42.3526, -73.7954
Athens River Front Park is 42.2595, -73.8081
